Beginners Four Week Pottery Course (Saturday Mornings)

In this four week course, you will learn all the basic techniques for making wheel-thrown pottery. We will be working on both kick-powered wheels and electric, and you will have the opportunity to make mugs, bowls and vases from terracotta clay.

In the final session you will be shown how to glaze your own work before it is fired in our studio kiln. The price of the workshop includes all materials and firing of work.

It will be a small and intimate class size of 4 people, so you will have plenty of assistance and tutoring.

This class is suitable for beginners or those with a little experience.

Techniques you will learn:

  • Throwing forms on the potters wheel

  • Trimming thrown forms

  • Handle making

  • Glazing your work

Aprons will be provided but please wear clothes that you don't mind getting messy! 

It is helpful if all hand/wrist jewellery is removed and nails are trimmed short, especially for wheel throwing sessions.

Your work will be fired & glazed and available for you to collect from the Boiler House 3 weeks after the date of your last session. Reminder emails will be sent out when they are ready to collect.
