FOND Studio Rules & Policies

Studio Rules

When joining the community at FOND studio, you agree to participate in the class and engage in the learning with a kind and courteous manner at all times. Any abusive, disruptive behaviour or any actions that reduce the other students’ ability to learn or feel comfortable may result in you being removed from the class.

Pricing System

The sliding scale pricing system is a form of mutual aid that recognizes that money is a barrier to access. This barrier to access may affect women more than men, queer/gender-non-conforming folk more than straight allies, non-white people more than white people, persons with disabilities more than those without. Using a sliding scale can help to ensure that products and services are inclusive for those that might usually be priced out, while still covering costs and paying a fair wage to the provider. The idea is to conceptualise the value of something relatively, to each individual. For example, £10 to someone who is unwaged has a lot more value than to someone on a £60k salary,

On this website, the format for a sliding scale pricing system is difficult to produce. I have instead implemented a discount code in it’s place, which will offer lower priced workshops to those who cannot afford the full price.

The code ‘FAIRERACCESS’ can be used to remove 20% off the cost of any booking.

I am always interested in developing this pricing system, so if you have ideas, advice or feedback on how to improve the experience as a user please do get in touch. Contact details can be found at the bottom of this page.

Physical Accessibility

There are no steps to reach the studio which is on the ground floor, and there is a disabled access toilet also on the ground floor of the building. The door to enter the studio room is 82cm, and space can be made for wheelchair users to sit at the worktable.

If you would like to visit beforehand or ask me questions about how your access needs may be met in the workshop, please get in touch.
